With numerous improvements and updates to various machine systems, the John Deere 1050J crawler dozer delivers even more productivity and uptime than its predecessor – while still providing the ease of operation and precise maneuverability. The 1050J crawler dozer has retained the hydrostatic drive train, the integral power management system for maximum efficiency, Deere’s exclusive Auto-Trac system that keeps the machine tracking straight in forward or reverse, and heavy duty undercarriage that provides long life and a smooth ride.A new, Tier III certified, 12-litre, six-cylinder engine with a wet sleeve design provides electronic fuel management and 335 net horsepower at 1,600 rpm. The slow engine speed delivers long life, low fuel consumption and extremely low noise levels. A deep oil pan assures full pressure lubrication on steep slopes. All essential maintenance points are grouped together on the right side of the engine, accessible through a hinged lockable door. The Deere 1050J’s ease of operation and precise maneuverability are the direct result of its full-featured hydrostatic drive train, which is controlled by a single joystick. The drive train allows the Deere 1050J to deliver power turns under load, infinite speed control, power management, counter-rotation, dynamic braking and other productivity-boosting advantages. With an infinitely variable speed range from 0 to 6.8 mph, the operator can choose the right ground speed for the job. Maximum ground speed is controlled by a simple switch, and all available power is applied, regardless of the selected speed setting.Operating weight has also increased, enhancing the stability of the machine. The Deere 1050J’s two drive pumps and four drive motors efficiently deliver power to the ground with two drive motors dedicated to each final drive, resulting in more steering power and over 116,000 pounds of drawbar pull. Additionally, a new electronic control system allows the technicians to adjust the machine to the operator’s preferences, as well as perform diagnostics on-site using a laptop. The Speed-in-Grip control lever features a shorter height and throw, which makes steering and forward/reverse travel even more intuitive and low effort. Speed selection is performed with an in-grip rocker switch, similar to other J-Series dozers. The dozer control lever also features shorter height and throw, with a button for optional hydraulic blade pitch.A new front console mounted monitor system with backlit gauges and a high visibility screen provides visual and audible alerts to keep the operator well informed of the machine’s operating status.A new 11.5 yard, 159-inch-wide semi-universal blade enhances both productivity and uptime. Improved blade curvature enhances loading and increases production, while clipped corners allow the operator to easily see when the blade is fully loaded. This helps the operator spend less time in the cut. Push beam trunnion joints use replaceable long-life half shell bearings, and the ripper is pinned directly to the frame, which enhances durability.
